8-16-14 Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs Miami Dolphins Postgame Notes

- Rookie WR Mike Evans made his first NFL reception on the Buccaneers first drive, catching an 11-yard pass on third down to get the first-down conversion.

- FB Jorvorskie Lane made his first catch as a Buccaneer, hauling in a pass from QB Josh McCown for a 14-yard gain.

- On the first play of the second quarter, DT Gerald McCoy sacked Miami QB Ryan Tannehill for a seven-yard loss, forcing a fumble that was recovered by DE Michael Johnson. That is McCoy’s first career sack in the preseason.

- On the ensuing possession, McCown threw his first touchdown as a Buccaneer, a seven-yard connection to WR Vincent Jackson. It is Jackson’s first preseason receiving touchdown with Tampa Bay.

- The Buccaneers held the Dolphins to -5 rushing yards in the first half. In regular season contests since 1991, the Buccaneers lowest opponent rushing total in a half is -2 yards, set in the first half at New England (11/16/97).

- Though QB Josh McCown only played in the first half, his passer rating of 128.6 would rank as the third-best first half mark of his regular season career (135.9 vs. Dallas, 12/9/13; 132.9 vs. Denver, 12/2/7).

- In the fourth quarter, WR Lavelle Hawkins caught his first touchdown as a member of the Buccaneers.
