BUCCANEERS AGREE TO TERMS WITH C JOE HAWLEY

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced today that the team has agreed to terms with center Joe Hawley.

Hawley (6-2, 302) joined Tampa Bay during the 2015 season and has started 29-of-30 games played for the Buccaneers (2015-16). He has been part of an offense that has averaged 361.1 yards per game over the past two seasons, the ninth-highest mark in the NFL. Tampa Bay has posted consecutive seasons with at least 5,500 yards of offense for the first time in franchise history and the team has scored at least 340 points in each of the past two seasons, the first time it has reached that mark in back-to-back years.  The Buccaneers have also had the sixth-highest third-down conversion rate (42.8 pct.) in the NFL over the past two seasons, including a team-record 43.9 percent conversion rate in 2016.

Hawley originally entered the league as a fourth-round pick (117th overall) out of UNLV by the Atlanta Falcons in the 2010 NFL Draft. He spent five seasons with Atlanta (2010-14), before being waived at the start of the 2015 season. During his time with the Falcons, the Bakersfield, California native played in 57 regular season games, making 23 starts, while starting one-of-two postseason contests.
