Team Also Swaps Draft Picks with Detroit

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced today that they have acquired defensive end George Johnson and a seventh-round pick (231st overall) from the Detroit Lions, in exchange for a fifth-round pick (168th overall). Johnson signed a three-year contract, which keeps him with the Buccaneers through the 2017 season
                                                                                                                             
Johnson (6-4, 263) joins the Buccaneers after spending the 2014 season with the Lions, where he played in all 16 games, recording 26 tackles, 6.0 sacks, one pass defensed and one fumble recovery, while helping the team earn a Wild Card Playoff Berth.
 
Johnson originally entered the NFL as a college free agent with Tampa Bay, spending time on the team’s practice squad and active roster from 2010-12, appearing in nine total games with the Buccaneers, before being waived in 2012 and signing with the Minnesota Vikings. From 2012-13, Johnson spent time on the Vikings’ active roster and practice squad, playing in two games.
