The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced today that the team has placed defensive end Howard Jones and running back Antone Smith on Injured Reserve and promoted running back Russell Hansbrough from the practice squad to the active roster. The team also announced that wide receiver Josh Huff has been signed to the practice squad.
Jones played in eight games, notching two tackles, a fumble recovery and two special teams tackles. Smith played in three games, rushing 10 times for 47 yards and catching six passes for 77 yards.
Hansbrough (5-9, 195) made his NFL debut with Tampa Bay in Week 5 at Carolina and has spent time on the Buccaneers’ practice squad this season. He wears No. 44 for Tampa Bay.
Huff (5-11, 206) originally entered the league as a third-round pick (86th overall) of the Philadelphia Eagles in the 2014 NFL Draft. He has played in 34 games, with six starts, catching 48 passes for 482 yards and four touchdowns, while returning 42 kickoffs for 1,165 yards and two touchdowns. He will wear No. 15 for Tampa Bay.
Today also marked the final day of wide receiver Louis Murphy’s 21-day practice period for the Reserve/Physically Unable to Perform list. Murphy will remain on Tampa Bay’s Reserve/PUP list for the remainder of the year.
