Team Waives RB Russell HansbroughThe Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced today that the team has promoted center Ben Gottschalk and defensive end Ryan Russell from the practice squad to the active roster and waived running back Russell Hansbrough.
Gottschalk (6-5, 293) was signed to Tampa Bay’s practice squad in 2015, spending the final six weeks of the season with the Buccaneers. He spent this past offseason and preseason with the Buccaneers. The Sherman Oaks, California native originally entered the league as a college free agent out of SMU. He wears No. 72 for Tampa Bay.
Russell (6-5, 275) was signed to Tampa Bay’s practice squad on September 21. He originally entered the league as a fifth-round pick (163rd overall) of the Dallas Cowboys in the 2015 NFL Draft. The Carrolton, Texas native, who played collegiately at Purdue, spent the 2015 season with Dallas, appearing in one game. He was with the Cowboys this past offseason and preseason. Russell wears No. 96 for Tampa Bay.
