The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced today that they have re-signed cornerback Leonard Johnson and safety Major Wright, while tendering restricted free agent running back Bobby Rainey and releasing offensive tackle Anthony Collins.
Johnson (5-10, 202), who was a restricted free agent, originally joined Tampa Bay as a college free agent out of Iowa State in 2012. Last season he played in all 16 games, making three starts, tallying 41 tackles, three passes defensed and three forced fumbles.
Wright (5-11, 204) started seven of the 12 games he played for the Buccaneers in 2014, his first year with the team, recording 51 tackles, two for loss, and one pass defensed. Wright spent his first four seasons in Chicago (2010-13).
Rainey (5-8, 212), originally joined Tampa Bay off of waivers from the Cleveland Browns in 2013. Last year, he played in 15 games, starting five, totaling 94 carries for 406 yards and one touchdown, while catching 33 passes for 315 yards and one touchdown.
Collins, who joined the Buccaneers in 2014, started all 10 games he played for the team last season.
