The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced today that the team has signed tight end Danny Vitale, the second of the team’s two sixth-round selections in the 2016 NFL Draft.
Vitale (6-2, 239) was chosen 197th overall out of Northwestern, where he played in 49 games, catching 135 passes for 1,427 yards and 11 touchdowns. A three-time Academic All-Big Ten selection, the Wheaton, Illinois native also earned consensus second-team All-Big Ten honors as a senior and honorable mention All-Big Ten honors from the league’s coaches after his junior season. Vitale led Northwestern in receptions (33), receiving yards (355) and receiving touchdowns (four) during his senior campaign. He will wear No. 86 for Tampa Bay.
