The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced today the signing of wide receiver Kaelin Clay, the team’s sixth-round selection in the 2015 NFL Draft.
Clay (5-10, 195) was selected 184th overall from the University of Utah. Clay played in all 13 games in 2014, catching 43 passes for 523 yards (12.2 avg.) and four touchdowns, while returning 22 kickoffs for 548 yards (24.9 avg.) and one touchdown and 23 punts for 346 yards (15.0 avg.) and three touchdowns. Clay earned first-team All-America distinction as a punt returner from Sporting News, and, while being named first-team All-Pac 12. He also won the College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) Punt Returner Trophy, with his three punt return touchdowns tying for first in the nation and tying the school record.
Prior to his season at Utah, Clay spent two seasons at Mt. San Antonio College, earning first-team All-Southern California Football Association (SCFA) honors. The Long Beach, California native played prep football at Long Beach Poly High School and signed with the University of California-Berkeley before attending Mt. San Antonio.
