Team Also Announces Eight Practice Squad Signings
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced today that they have signed two-time Pro Bowl cornerback Tim Jennings and placed tackle Demar Dotson on Injured Reserve/Designated for Return.
Jennings (5-8, 185) is in his 10th NFL season, having originally entered the league as a second-round pick (62nd overall) by the Indianapolis Colts in the 2006 NFL Draft. Jennings spent four seasons with Indianapolis (2006-09), winning Super Bowl XLI and playing in Super Bowl XLIV. Following his time in Indianapolis, Jennings was signed by the Chicago Bears, where he played for five seasons (2010-14), including three under Buccaneers Head Coach Lovie Smith, who held the same role in Chicago.
In his career, Jennings has played in 131 regular-season games, with 95 starts, totaling 437 tackles, 78 passes defensed, 20 interceptions (279 return yards, three touchdowns), nine forced fumbles, six fumble recoveries (17 return yards) and 26 special teams tackles. He has also played in seven career postseason contests, recording 23 tackles, five passes defensed and one forced fumble.
Jennings earned Pro Bowl berths following both the 2012 and 2013 seasons, while also earning Associated Press second-team All-Pro distinction in 2012. His nine interceptions in 2009 were the most in the NFL and are tied for the most by any player since 2007 (Antonio Cromartie, 10). Jennings was named NFC Defensive Player of the Month in September 2012, after registering a league-leading four interceptions.
A native of Orangeburg, South Carolina, Jennings played collegiately at Georgia. He will wear No. 28 for Tampa Bay.
Dotson will be eligible to play for the Buccaneers beginning in Week 9.
