FORTY-FIVE BUCCANEERS PLAYERS TO WEAR CUSTOM CLEATS THIS WEEK AS PART OF NFL’S MY CAUSE, MY CLEATS INITIATIVE

This week, 45 players from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will participate in the NFL’s My Cause, My Cleats campaign, a league-wide initiative that offers players the opportunity to promote charitable causes that are important to them through creative cleat designs.

Participating Buccaneers will view their cleats for the very first time during today’s open locker room media availability, beginning at 11:45 a.m.

When the Buccaneers face the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field on Sunday, the players will showcase a wide variety of colors and designs supporting more than 40 different charities. Over the past few weeks, several players collaborated with children and representatives from their specific non-profit organization to help design their one-of-a-kind cleats. Linebacker Lavonte David, a National Ambassador for Big Brothers Big Sisters, worked with “Littles” from Big Brothers Big Sisters of Tampa Bay, along with teammates Cameron Lynch and Devante Bond, for artwork ideas. Defensive Tackle Gerald McCoy teamed up with the non-profit organization The Life of a Single Mom and welcomed two single mothers, along with their children, to One Buccaneer Place for a sneak peak of his custom cleats during the design process.

“I chose the superhero theme because I personally believe that all single parents, mothers and fathers, are superheroes,” says McCoy.

Also supporting causes in which they are passionate about are General Manager Jason Licht and Director of Player Personnel John Spytek, who will be sporting sneakers in support of the National CMV Foundation. Spytek co-founded the National CMV Foundation with his wife, Kristen, in honor of their daughter, Evelyn Grace, who passed away in 2014.

Beginning this week, players will start sharing images and the stories behind their custom design using the hashtag #MyCauseMyCleats. Immediately following today’s reveal, fans may visit the team’s website at Buccaneers.com/Cleats for exclusive My Cause, My Cleats images and videos, with new content being added each day leading up to Sunday’s game.
