David is a National Ambassador and BIG Champion for the mentoring organizationOn Friday, August 4, linebacker Lavonte David will host 20 “Big and Little” matches from Big Brothers Big Sisters of Tampa Bay to enjoy practice and participate in a PLAY 60 Clinic. In 2016, David was named a Big Brothers Big Sisters “BIG Champion”, a celebrity ambassador who raises funds and awareness for the organization while inspiring people to become mentors. David’s annual ‘Bowl for Kids’ Sake’ bowling event benefiting Big Brothers Big Sisters raised over $30,000 in 2016, and it continues to attract fellow teammates and fans who connect for a good cause while making a difference in the Tampa Bay community.
As a “BIG Champion,” David is passionate about inspiring youth to overcome adversity and succeed both in the classroom and on the playing field. According to Big Brothers Big Sisters, 99% of “Littles” – youth participants in the program – gain confidence, are more likely to stay in school, and remain out of the criminal justice system.
Immediately following Friday morning’s practice, the “Bigs” will be paired with their “Littles” to enjoy Play 60 drills led by David. To learn more about the Buccaneers in the community and the team’s player outreach initiatives, visit www.buccaneers.com/community.
