Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Miami Dolphins Postgame Notes (9/3/15)

- After the Buccaneers punted on their opening possession, the punt was muffed by Miami RB LaMike James and recovered by Tampa Bay S Keith Tandy at the Miami nine-yard line. It is Tandy’s first career preseason fumble recovery and is the team’s first special teams fumble recovery since 2013 (Adam Hayward at Miami, 8/24/13).

- On the second play after Tandy’s fumble recovery, QB Mike Glennon connected with WR Adam Humphries for a four-yard touchdown pass. It is Glennon’s second touchdown pass this preseason and the sixth of his career (three in 2013, one in 2014, two in 2015).

- Later in the first quarter, S Major Wright recorded his first preseason interception as a Buccaneer, intercepting a pass from QB McLeod Bethel-Thompson, returning it 18 yards. That is Wright’s second career preseason interception (also one in 2012, with Chicago).

- Following Wright’s interception, K Kyle Bridza connected for a 57-yard field goal, his first made field goal as a Buccaneer. It is the longest made field goal in the preseason since 2001 (Martin Gramatica, 58 yards at Cleveland, 8/18/01) and would be tied for the second-longest in regular season franchise history.

- As the first half came to a close, Brindza connected on a 55-yard field goal. He is the first Buccaneers kicker to connect on two 50-yard field goals in the same preseason game since Kai Forbath (51 & 55 yards, vs. New England, 8/24/12). That game was also the last time the team has registered two field goals of at least 55 yards in the same preseason game (also Connor Barth, 56 yards). Dating back to 2000*, no Buccaneers kicker has accomplished the feat in the same game.

- With the first quarter winding down, the Buccaneers got a score from their defense, bringing down Dolphins RB Jay Ajayi in the end zone. Along with LB Danny Lansansh’s safety against Cincinnati, the Buccaneers have two this preseason, which would match the most in a single regular season by the team since 2002. The team also accomplished the feat in 1989. Dating back to 2000*, the team has not accomplished the feat.

- On Miami’s first possession of the second half, the Dolphins drove 82 yards, but Bethel-Thompson threw his second interception of the night, this time to Buccaneers LB Khaseem Greene, who returned it 98 yards for a touchdown. That would tie former LB Shelton Quarles for the longest interception return in team history (98-yard INT-TD vs. Green Bay, 10/7/01). That is the longest preseason interception return for the team in a preseason contest, dating back to 2000*.

- LB Larry Dean recorded his first career preseason sack in tonight’s game, dropping Bethel-Thompson for a seven-yard loss.

- Miami’s final two drives of the game each ended with Buccaneers S Keith Tandy intercepting Dolphins QB Josh Freeman. The first interception occurred in the Buccaneers’ end zone, just prior to the 2:00 minute warning. After Miami got the ball back, Tandy recorded his second interception, at the Buccaneers’ 23-yard line, returning it 46 yards. Tandy now has three career preseason interceptions (one in 2013, two in 2015).

- Tandy is the first Buccaneers player to record multiple interceptions in the same game since S Sean Baker (two at Washington, 8/29/12).

- Brindza made his Buccaneers preseason debut in tonight’s game.
