TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS HOST SPECIAL MILITARY DAY AT TRAINING CAMP THURSDAY

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will proudly welcome more than 1,000 active-duty and veteran military personnel and their families to One Buccaneer Place on Thursday from 9:00–11:30 a.m. for one of the team’s final training camp sessions of 2015. Special guests scheduled to attend include 50 patients and staff from James A. Haley Veterans’ Hospital, as well as senior leadership from MacDill Air Force Base including Col. Randal L. Bright, Commander, 927th Air Refueling Wing; Col. Dennis L. Seymour, Commander, 927th Mission Support Group; and Lt. Col. Adam J. McLean, Commander, 63rd Air Refueling Squadron.

All military guests and their family members attending Thursday’s practice have been contacted and provided training camp tickets in advance.

Upon entry to training camp, military personnel will receive a custom Buccaneers military commemorative coin as well as a custom “Share A Coke With A Hero” Coke can provided by Coca-Cola. Before practice begins, the 2015 Tampa Bay Buccaneers Cheerleaders will perform on the field in patriotic military appreciation uniforms and the national anthem will be played following the team’s opening stretch. In addition, all attendees will receive tickets to the team’s preseason home opener next Monday, August 24, versus Cincinnati.

During the morning, guests and their families will also have the opportunity to get autographs from Buccaneers Legend Martin Gramatica, who’s Gramatica Family Foundation provides energy-efficient housing development assistance to disabled military veterans. The 2015 Tampa Bay Buccaneers Cheerleaders will greet guests and sign autographs, and children will have the chance to enjoy this year’s expanded Kids Zone area that features interactive football skills, a station to try on an authentic Buccaneers uniform, and additional activities.

Thursday’s Military Day is just one example of the many ways that the team supports the men and women who have served or continue to serve in our Armed Forces. Together with USO Central Florida, the Buccaneers host a variety of military initiatives to support those who have sacrificed for others, including the military “Hero of the Game” and the Salute to Service Suite during home games at Raymond James Stadium.

This past offseason, the team also presented the inaugural General H Norman Schwarzkopf Military Family of the Year Award to an active-duty family from each branch of the military (Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, National Guard/Reserves) who had demonstrated the values of integrity, courage, commitment and service before self while sharing in the sacrifices of service to our country. The award presentation took place at a special banquet at One Buccaneer Place, where each family received a commemorative trophy and a $500 gift card to International Diamond Center, an official sponsor of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Following Thursday’s Military Day practice, the Buccaneers players have a day off on Friday before a closed practice session on Saturday, August 22. For a complete rundown on training camp, including highlights, photo galleries and exclusive content, visit www.buccaneers.com.
